About Erasmus Mundus

The Neurasmus Programme is an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degrees (EMJMDs) developed under Key Action 1 of the Erasmus + Programme build on the success of Erasmus Mundus Master Courses (EMMCs).

Key Action 1 fosters cooperation between higher education institutions and academic staff in Europe and Third Countries with a view to creating poles of excellence and providing highly trained human resources. Joint programmes of outstanding academic quality are designed and implemented by a consortium of European universities from at least 3 different countries. Consortia may also include universities from other parts of the world. Programmes include obligatory study and research periods, in at least two universities, and award recognised double, multiple or joint degrees.

Erasmus Mundus at a glance

EMJMDs are highly integrated study programmes that are delivered by an international consortium of Higher Education Institutions. Where relevant, the consortium can also include other educational and non-educational partners with specific expertise in the field covered by the joint programme.

After a preparatory year, consortia implement three annual selections of students, who are awarded a joint or multiple degree at the end of their studies.

The Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) is responsible for the implementation of the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degrees Programme.

EU objectives

  • foster excellence, innovation, and internationalisation in Higher Education Institutions;
  • boost the attractiveness of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) and support the EU's external action in the field of higher education;
  • improve the level of competences and skills of Master graduates, and their employability.
